Adidas turn eco friendly with new range
Monday, April 28, 2008
Eco friendly shoes
Last week adidas Originals launched its new ‘‘eco'' range, Gru¨n, at its Wellington store. Adidas is one of the more innovative big brands and its new line is no exception.
Every adidas Gru¨n garment is 100 per cent biodegradable - right down to the world's first biodegradable zip. Developed with environmental sensibilities in mind, many of its products, including sneakers, are made from environmentally friendly materials such as hemp, jute and cotton.
Other sneaker styles incorporate recycled products such as PET (polyethylene terephthalate plastic) and used tyres. Californian brand Simple Shoes has just launched ecoSNEAKS - sneakers that look great, feel comfortable, are made to last and leave a better ecological footprint.
EcoSNEAKS are made with 100 per cent organic cotton linings and collars, PET recycled plastic bottles for laces, and recycled car tyres for soles. Instead of swing tags the materials are listed on the footbeds.
