As part of our sensible house principles we believe that renovating existing houses is environmentally friendly. We bought an old crib and stripped the interior, relined, rewired, replumbed, reinsulated and redesigned to allow for passive solar design and indoor-outdoor flow. We have eco light fittings and bulbs, heatpumps, a heatpump hotwater cyclinder. We only have one bathroom. We believe you should build a house that suit your family and your lifestyle but not a 'MacCastle' (defined as a house which is built for show). We are also working towards creating a herb garden/vegetable patch.
I am an Architectural Designer who is working towards creating a profile for a house that is eco-friendly but affordable.
