I am looking for people who would like to help me develop an ecological training centre with a difference: ‘Eco Chateau’. This will be more than an ‘eco’ place, it will be a refuge where people can come and learn how to do really useful things to help them become self sufficient (build solar panels, run your car on water, hydroponics, permaculture, build a magnetic power generator, organic food growing), where we can exchange lots of ideas, where we can plan how to put those ideas into action, where we can act in solidarity and support of each other, where there is a community of minds and hearts and a physical space to meet and act. We want to become one of the models of our time to help to spearhead the changes that are beginning to happen in the world. Yes...NOW IS THE TIME TO CHANGE!

Come and join us!!

TECHNICAL SKILLS that we would love to have: building skills, mechanical skills, carpentry skills, electrical skills
OTHER SKILLS that would really help: legal, architectural

MAIN ATTRACTIONS:
you will receive FREE meals and lodging in a beautiful chateau
you will have access to learning how to: make a car run on water, build solar panels, build a greenhouse, build a free energy magnetic generator, grow hydroponic vegetables

Description

Eco-Chateau is a new co-housing community & eco-holiday destination on a 13-hectare estate with 17th century Chateau de Cautine at its centre. It is set in one of the most untouched parts of rural France and on the edge of the magnificent Dordogne with its deep rivers, gorges, forests, lakes and mountains.

HERE is a place to live & work, to holiday and to volunteer with beautiful chateau accommodation and shared communal communal space for living, creating and HAVING FUN!

Co-housing
*****************

Eco-Chateau co-housing is an emerging project based at Chateau de Cautine. It is the inspiration of the owner to transform it into a community of people, each with their own living space yet sharing common areas and land.
Yearning for a more coherent & satisfying life for herself and her children, the vision for this project has emerged. Based around self-sufficiency, learning, community and enjoyment, it is a culmination of all her skills, interests and experience.

The idea will be to create a really interesting and fun place to live & work, where we are as self-sufficient as possible in food, water and energy (100% is the goal) as well as generating an income for ourselves from eco-learning and adventure holidays and our own produce.

There will be no particular prohibitions, prescriptions, philosophies or lifestyle rules but a commitment to freedom, respect and common shared goals as agreed by consensus.

Our plan includes 6 self-contained homes for up to 20 adults and children scattered around the estate with walkways linking them to the main buildings of the chateau. Within the chateau there will be more accommodation in self-contained apartments and on the ground floor, the communal areas for cooking, eating and relaxing when desired. The barns and outbuildings will be converted to house a workshop and technical building space, an art and music space, a classroom for schooling and a library.

There is a fully developed budget for the conversion of all communal areas. Individual homes will either be self-build with professional help, ‘turnkey’ or a combination of both and these will be decided by each family or group so they can build to their own specifications and budget.

As all the communal costs of the project will be shared, it becomes very affordable. We envisage that there will be a wealth of energy and experience within the group to do much of the conversion ourselves - bringing together funds, skills, inspiration and work and this will drive the communal costs down.
