Can anybody recommend a valuer who understands eco properties and values accordingly? Ideally located in Canterbury.

Cheers

Dean

To ask for a valuer that "values accordingly" implies that you would get a different value from different valuers, but the idea of a registered valuer is that their valuation can be relied on to be on a par with other valuers and with the market.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is enough of a market for eco property features to make much difference to the general market price for properties. You may get specific buyers who will pay more for some eco features, but they will not be the norm, and so the valuation will have to reflect that.

Good luck... I have called everybody I could find in Wellington and any features other than regular stuff is a hard sell to the valuer... Actually, as previous post states, their reference is the average property in the area that could sell in 3 months (that's what the bank expects from the valuer), so I just gave up...
It is unfortunate, but we'll have to wait a few years until energy efficiency of the house is better understood and accepted... or hopefully the mandatory energy evaluation at a design phase so everybody putting their house on the market, can not fool people into buying 30 years old standard for a top dollar.
