Progresive Building June/July issue
Posted 4 Jul 10 4:05 PM
Has an interesting article about a new house build in Wairarapa with a double skin north face roof that collects hot air at the apex and pumps it into a gravel bed beneath the concrete floor to be drawn from for space heating. Does anyone know more about this house and if it works?

This is the 'annualized geo-solar heating' concept idea I asked about this morning. From what I've read on the internet it gets more efficient after a few years when the gravel bed/mass dries out more.

The subject house is part of a community at www.totarabank.com.
The house owner can be found under the "Research" tab as A. Duncan and his analysis is there.

Cam the last post was me Mike, just registered like the many other annons should.
This idea would even be suited to retrofitting an existing house/building with mass internal walls, similar to what they did in the 9star house in golden bay.
cheers
