Insulfoam - Any Reviews Or Advice?
Posted 18 Dec 10 7:16 PM
Hi, Just wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with Insulfoarm: www.insulfoamNZ.co.nzOr any thoughts on that process for insulation. They are a lot more expensive than batts so I'm wondering if it's worth it? Thanks.

How much dearer is it because it seems like a lot better product that would most likely retain it's performance longer than sagging batts.
If the R value is that high then even a thin layer should be high enough to meet requirements.
I'm impressed and would like to hear others views.

Is this the same stuff as Airfoam which got all that bad press ealier in the year-or is this something more dependable-ie won't shrink over the years, form voids, possibly shift the dew point to the framing and cause rot?

From their website it appears that it will never shrink but I would also like to know about shifting the dew point - it's something that I would never have thought about.

Here's a video about this insulfoam stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WZX5OPMhUIApparently it's approved to be used in Australia but not here in New Zealand yet. You can't get this past the councils which is a joke as it's been used overseas for many, many years. Price quoted to me was $30 square metre. Not the same stuf as that Airfoam from the research I have done.

I did get this product however for the price which was 6500 aud for 100m2 house was not satisfactory. There were lots where I could .see through to the sisalation. they came back but didn't tape up properly and oversprayed my concrete floor and windows and stll there are spots where i have had to fill with torn off batts or spray foam in a can
