Share with us your plans for World Environment Day. With New Zealand as the host nation this year, it is a chance for us to display some clean green thinking and make an effort to do something for the environment.

If you are in Christchurch, you should check out this:

“Step Up Canterbury” – World Environment Day 2008
Dates: Thu 05 Jun 08, All day event
Venue: Various - Christchurch, Central Christchurch, Christchurch

As part of World Environment Day celebrations the project incorporates two events. The first is a Celebratory Expo/Auction and a promotion of sustainable transport, the second event is a live cross to the Hillary Institute Conference for a presentation on Climate Change.

The Expo/Auction will celebrate sustainability successes and encourage residents to take next steps. A ‘funny money’ auction, exhibitions, seminars, speakers and children’s activities will be held. Organisations and businesses will be asked to donate environmentally friendly items for auction (eg solar heaters, heat pumps) in return for exhibit space and exposure in the marketing campaign.

I have just launched a new global carbon reducing initiative called http://stepit.org . The initiative encourages people to think twice before using cars and elevators for short trips. Please promote the initiative if you feel that it has merit.

eSign.co.nz also encourages using less paper and trees and completing deals/agreements online which means more trees to absorb the carbon leading to a healthier living for all.
