A natural log home built using sustainable building techniques.

The house was built by Te Huia Log Homes Ltd.

This eco house is a log frame structure which makes use of whole natural logs and sustainable building techniques.

Quote from the owners:

"Using big natural logs for a house is a joyful process and amazing to live in. We have found that building a house like this is a journey of self discovery."

The home is built using douglas fir logs which are peeled using draw knives. The logs give the space in the house a warm golden feel. Also, this type of building method has low embodied energy; in other words the amount of energy used to manufacture and transport the building materials is very small compared to other methods of building.
