New sustainable building company

A new Upper Hutt company designing and building energy efficient and sustainable homes has started from a team who say a home should not only be healthy and comfortable to live in, but should also last for generations.

Owned by Trevor Salisbury and Kevin Turley, Enviro Homes design and build energy efficient, solar passive and sustainable homes with every aspect of the home looked at with these principles in mind from the very first conversation.

Trevor says this range of homes came about after speaking to a number of clients looking for a new home, “there is a real shift in the market place.” These people are not only looking for an energy efficient and solar passive home that uses sustainably sourced materials, but they want to deal with a company and people who really understand energy saving principles, he says.

These quality homes are built to exceed the 50 year requirements of the New Zealand Building Code and surpass the insulation standards required for the coldest areas of NZ by up to 2x. Enviro Homes are not only energy efficient and sustainable but are built to be enjoyed and remain in excellent condition for generations to come.

Enviro Homes enjoys the enviable, combined backing of over 100 years experience in the building industry between designers, architects, the project manager and directors. Enviro Homes draws upon the knowledge, expertise and close association with HouseWorx, a local design and build company that has won numerous House Of The Year awards. The team approach every aspect of a home in detail ensuring every aspect is carefully covered off resulting in a truly energy efficient and solar passive home.

There are a number of standard inclusions in an Enviro Home including but not limited to fully insulated concrete floor slabs, thermally broken double glazed windows, Douglas Fir framing, sustainably grown timbers for external cladding, piping for hydronic under floor heating and solar ready hot water cylinders.

Solar panels for hot water and electricity generation, composting sewerage systems, grey water recycling, rain water collection and commissioning of the under floor heating systems are all optional upgrades.

Enviro Homes focuses on new homes but also offer options for renovations and alterations for those who would like their existing homes improved.

“We have designed a compact show home to be built in Upper Hutt which we hope to begin construction on in the next few months,” Kevin, who co-started the company says.

The team is based in Upper Hutt, but covers the Wellington, Kapiti and Wairarapa regions.
